A 19-year-old Porirua woman suffered minor injuries this morning when confronted in her home by a scissors-wielding man wearing a balaclava.

Police say they received a call from the woman at 10.27am, after the man had assaulted her in her Cardiff Cres home.

”A 19-year-old female has disturbed a male who has entered her house. They’ve had a brief struggle where there were a pair of scissors that were used,” Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard said.

She was home alone at the time, he said.

”The brief struggle has left the victim with minor injuries, some superficial cuts. . .
