Amarillo police are looking for a man who invaded two houses Wednesday morning and threatened to fight and stab one homeowner, Cpl. Jerry Neufeld said.

At 7:50 a.m., police responded to the 3100 block of Mockingbird Lane, where homeowners said a white man had walked through their front door, which was left unlocked as the homeowners were expecting guests, police said.

One of the homeowners asked the man who he was and what he was doing, and the man said he was looking for someone, police said.

The homeowner asked who the man was looking for, and the man did not answer, so the homeowner told the man to leave the house and told family members to call the police.

The man left the house and began to walk away, and the homeowner told the man to stay where he was, police said. The man then turned around, raised a fist and began walking toward the homeowner, authorities said.

At that time, the homeowner hit the man in the face, knocking him to the ground, and the man pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the
homeowner before fleeing toward a nearby alley, police said.

While officers were investigating, a woman approached them and told them a man had attempted to force himself into her residence in the 3100 block of Curtis Drive, police said.

She told officers she noticed a man at her front door, and she opened the door before he pushed his way through, telling her “This is a home invasion,” authorities said.

The woman told police she hit the man and shoved him back outside before closing and locking her door.

The man is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds, wearing gray pants and a gray plaid shirt.
