A 26-year-old Genoa Township man was hospitalized after two men wearing Halloween masks entered his home and stabbed him early this morning, police said.

Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte said there are believed to be three men involved in the home invasion, which occurred around 12:50 a.m. in the 4000 block of Hampton Ridge Blvd. in the Hampton Ridge condominium, east off Latson Road and north of Grand River Avenue.

He said two men wearing Halloween masks entered the home and demanded money. He said the intruders began physically fighting with the victim, who was stabbed three times in the lower abdomen.

Bezotte said the victim’s 26-year-old girlfriend grabbed the couple’s 2-year-old toddler and ran. The toddler received minor injuries when the woman fell while running away, but neither were physically injured by the intruders, the sheriff noted.

The 26-year-old male was transported by ambulance to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor where he was last list in stable condition, authorities said.

One intruder was described as a black male, about 6 feet tall and of “average” build. He is estimated to weigh about 200 pounds. The second intruder was described as a white male of thin build and about 160 pounds.

Bezotte said a third male is believed to have been the lookout. There is no description of him immediately available.

Additional details were not released due to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff’s Detective Matt Shutes at 517-540-7941 or CrimeStoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP or 800-773-2587.

Athens man stabbed during home invasion

An Athens man was stabbed during a home invasion early Saturday morning on Oak Hill Drive.

According to an Athens-Clarke police report, there were two people in the home when four or five men entered the residence through the front door and made the two get on the floor.

A woman who was home at the time told police the men tied her up and put a knife to her neck while one of the men repeatedly asked her “where it was,” according to the police report.

A man who lives in the home was found by police lying on the floor with what appeared to be a stab wound to his back and injuries to his head, according to the report.

Police wrote in the report that the man was possibly beaten in the head with a blunt instrument and also suffered a “stabbing-type” injury on his back.

The male victim was transported to a hospital.
