HIGH POINT —
Police have not made an arrest of the third suspect, James Bumpas Jr., in the robbery and kidnapping investigation.
At 6:25 a.m. Sunday, High Point Police officers responded to a residence on Broadstone Village Drive, High Point in response to a robbery and kidnapping. The resident reported that three armed men broke into her home and robbed her and her boyfriend. The suspects then kidnapped her boyfriend and drove away in the man’s car, according to reports.
Capt. Mike Kirk with the High Point Police Department said the three suspects were acquainted with the residents of the home that they robbed Sunday morning.
With the help of Greensboro police, officers arrested two suspects and have warrants on a third man, James Ervin Bumpas, Jr., who as of press time Sunday night, was still at large. Police say Bumpas, 25, of Greensboro, is armed and dangerous.
Police arrested Quentin Fortune, 27, and Demmonntray Byrd, 22, both of Greensboro, on Sunday afternoon. Both men have been charged with first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle. Both remain in High Point Jail, each with $500,000 secured bonds.
The man who police say was kidnapped, was recovered from a home on Van Wert Street in Greensboro and taken to a hospital. He was able to be interviewed by High Point Police Sunday.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bumpas are asked to call Crimestoppers, 886-4000, or 911.
