Three men who carried out a violent home invasion at the home of an elderly couple in the 600 block of Wyndrise Drive the night of Oct. 16 are being sought by Whitpain police.

The couple, who were able to alert police at 8:48 p.m., may have been followed home from their business in Philadelphia, police said.

The three were described as young, thin, black males, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with thin faces. They all had white T-shirt type covers tied around their faces and one was wearing red sneakers, police said.

Police released pictures of a man they “would like to speak to … to see if he can provide any information to assist with the investigation,” according to a press release.

The man, who was captured on surveillance video from locations where the victims made several stops on their way home, was described as a black male, early 20s, average build, about 5 feet 10 inches tall; he was wearing black running pants with a green line down the sides, a white shirt and red sneakers. He may have been operating a silver, four-door sedan, similar to a Toyota Corolla, which was also captured on surveillance video, police said.

Police declined to speculate if the man was one of the three assailants.

The two victims were unpacking their car after arriving home from shopping when the husband was attacked by the three men in the driveway, police said. One of the assailants struck the husband in the head multiple times with a hammer, causing severe injuries, before bringing him inside, where he was separated from his wife, who had run to the door after hearing her husband’s screams for help, police said. .  .

A second man began to assault the wife, demanding money, police said. The woman, pleading with the assailants to stop beating her husband, told them she would give them money and they followed her into the house where she gave them an undisclosed amount of money, police said. The woman was able to set off an audible alarm and the three men fled in an unknown vehicle, police said.

The husband was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition Tuesday morning, according to Detective Sgt. William Armstrong. The wife, who was also assaulted, was treated and released, he said.

Anyone able to identify the man pictured or having any information regarding the incident is asked to call the Whitpain Township Police Detective Division at 610-279-9033. Continued…
