You Don’t Need Permission To From the State To Carry

When will America wise up about guns? They are not scary. They are a tool – like a hammer or a saw. You’ve heard the saying, the right tool for the right job. You wouldn’t use a gun to hammer a nail into a board, and you wouldn’t use a hammer to hunt or defend yourself. You could try, but I’d rather not get that close to that which I’m hunting or an attacker and I’ve been trained.
Over the years more and more citizens have been conditioned to think guns are scary. Thus the “Gun Free Zone” was established. Yet economist John Lott found that “every public shooting since at least 1950 in the United States in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns.” Bet you won’t hear that fun fact from the anti-gun lobby.
Now we hear Starbucks coffee shops will be gun free zones. I agree with them. They are a private business and should have the freedom to invoke such a policy.
What bothers me is that those on the right are complaining about it. Not regarding Starbucks specifically – but how the argument has been framed.
Wednesday morning on Fox, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade were discussing gun free zones in general and Starbucks specifically. They both agreed that in a state where open carry is legal, people should have the right to walk into a Starbucks with a gun. Shockingly, I heard Glenn Beck say something similar. . .
