WORCESTER — Police are seeking suspects in two separate home invasions in the past two days. In each case, an occupant of an apartment was physically assaulted.

Neither victim was seriously hurt in the home invasions, which police said were not random. They did not say whether they believed the two incidents to be related. One happened Monday on Dewey Street and the other occurred early Tuesday morning on Orne Street.

Police arrived at the Dewey Street apartment about 11:45 p.m. Monday. They were told by the 26-year-old occupant that he was struck in the head with a hammer by one of three men who kicked in the front door to his apartment. He said while he was being attacked, the other two men searched the apartment.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries but declined to be taken to a hospital, police said in a news release.

The men fled the apartment in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, police said.

In the second home invasion, which was reported about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, police said two men armed with handguns forced their way into an apartment on Orne Street. The 26-year-old man at that address said he was beaten by both men. He suffered numerous lacerations to his head and face and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was released after treatment.

After a brief search of the apartment, the suspects, both dressed in dark clothing, fled on foot.

Detectives went to both scenes to conduct interviews and process evidence.

Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to send an anonymous text to 274637 beginning with TIPWPD, or submit an anonymous message at http://www.worcesterma.gov/police, or call the Detective Bureau at (508) 799-8651.
