Worcester police are investigating two separate home invasions, including one during which a man was allegedly struck in the head with a hammer.

“The victim was suffering from minor injuries to his head that he said was the result of being hit with a hammer,” according to a Worcester Police Department press release about a Monday night break-in, which occurred shortly before midnight at a Dewey Street apartment. “According to the victim, three males had kicked in his front door to the apartment. One male struck the victim while the other two males searched his apartment.”

The three men then fled the apartment of the 26-year-old unidentified victim in a dark colored SUV, according to police. Worcester EMS treated the victim at the scene after he refused to be transported to a hospital.

A second home invasion on Tuesday night involved another 26-year-old victim with two men forcing their way into his apartment on Orne Street at approximately 2:15 a.m., according to police. Two men reportedly attacked the victim and then searched the apartment and fled on foot. The unidentified victim received numerous lacerations to his head and was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released, according to police.

The two men were described as an approximately 6-foot tall black man and a 5-foot, 11-inch Hispanic man wearing dark clothing, according to the release.
