On December 6, 2013 at about 2:47 pm, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of McKelvey Avenue in Oildale regarding a possible burglary in progress. The homeowner was inside her residence when she heard glass break to the front of her residence. As she approached her front door, she saw the glass to her front door was broken out and an unknown adult male, later identified as Marcus Gray 21 years old, running away. The alarm to the residence was activated. As the homeowner went to another room, Gray re-entered the residence and told the homeowner to deactivate the alarm. When the homeowner refused, Gray assaulted her and fled the residence. The homeowner sustained minor injuries. Deputies located Gray about one block away at the corner of Merle Haggard Drive and North Chester Avenue. Gray was taken into custody without incident. As a result of the investigation, Gray was booked into the Central Receiving Facility for robbery, burglary, battery, and intimidating a victim. His bail has been set at $205,000.
