JAY, Maine – Police say 3 men wearing ski masks and gloves forced their way through the front door of a home on Macomber Hill Road just after 12 Saturday morning.

A woman was home alone at the time, she tells police the men forced her to sit in a living room chair while they took items from her home. The indicated items from the home, including firearms, were stockpiled near the exit.

Police said at one point the woman was able to make a call for help from her cell phone, but was caught by the men. The suspects then set her husband’s truck on fire and allegedly fled with very little.

Jay police say it appears the suspects may have been familiar with the home.

An older model red Dodge pickup with black on the bottom was seen in the area and is a vehicle of interest to police.

Police believe the people in that truck may have witnessed the suspect’s vehicle leaving the area.
