They assaulted a 38-year-old man while his partner hid under a bed.

“They beat my partner with an axe to the elbow, face, knee,” victim Brittany Bailey said.

“I was under the bed, I actually thought I was gunna get dragged from under the bed, like from my foot or something, honestly, I was on the phone to triple zero straight away,”

She believes she was targeted in the attack because she said she heard the men asking ‘where is she?’.

Ms Bailey said the men also attacked her dog and eight puppies.

“They kicked them, trod on my little Bella,” she said.

The suspects escaped with a wallet, jewellery, mobile phones, a laptop and even some gelati.

Police dogs tracked their scent to a nearby street and found some stolen items along the way, which were returned to the victims.

Police do not believe it is a random attack, but are still investigating why the house was targeted.
